Morning: Best for mental alertness and energy during the day. Exposure to cold water or cold air can stimulate the body and mind, helping you feel more awake and ready to take on the day. Additionally, morning exposure to cold has been shown to improve sleep quality at night.
Before/After Exercise: Best to reduce muscle soreness and speed up recovery time. Some athletes choose to take cold showers or ice baths after a workout to help their muscles recover and reduce inflammation. However, it is important to wait 6 hours after strength training to take an ice bath if you are trying to build muscle mass as it can interrupt hypertrophy. having an ice bath before training increases alertness and focus and studies show an increase in Testosterone.
Afternoon: Best to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Exposure to cold can stimulate the production of endorphins, which are natural painkillers and mood boosters. Cold therapy may also help reduce inflammation, which can contribute to feelings of stress and anxiety.
Evening: Cold therapy is known to produce a spike in cortisol, which in some studies has been linked to poor sleep. The fact that cold plunge can cause an increase in alertness and focus due to the dramatic increases in norepinephrine, adrenaline and other hormones, may make it unsuitable to practice very close to sleep.
In the end, the optimal time to do ice baths / cold therapy is the time that works best for you and your schedule. Whatever time is best for building a long-term, consistent practice. It's important to start slowly and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your cold exposure while listening to your body and adjusting as needed.

Typically, 2-5 minutes is sufficient, depending on water temperature, your experience and tolerance. Beginners should start with shorter sessions (1-2 minutes) with higher water temperatures (10°C) and gradually build up. Use our πagoc Guide for more details on how to tackle cold exposure.

This will vary based on your location and the temperature of your tap water. If you want it to get cold immediately, you can jump start it with some packets of ice. Otherwise, it will take approximately 12-14 hours to get the temperature from 20°C down to 0°C, and to begin making its own ice in Cyprus summer conditions.

For the first fill and decreasing the temperature of your water from 20°C down to 0°C the ice bath will require 14 hours and approximately 16kWh equivalent to apprx. EUR 5.00

Yes, however It is important to make sure there is adequate ventilation available. You will need to leave a 30cm gap around the bath to allow for airflow to the cooling equipment.

The filtration system handles most of the maintenance. You’ll only need to replace the filters periodically and perform occasional cleaning. Annual Maintenance from our team after the 2 year mark is recommended for safe and efficient operation.

Unlike those of us hacking chest freezers you don’t need to unplug your πagoc ice bath - in fact it is vital that you leave it plugged in so that it is earth-grounded all the time. That way, you’re safe. An industrial plug is used to guaranty safety even if water is spilled over the plug.
